"Best Album Poll"
Since the thread about the Best Song Poll has been buried, I thought I would amplify the beginning of the Best Album Poll here. Get voting, especially if you're a diehard fan who wants to save Parachute:

1. "RE: Best Album Poll"
Hey y'all, I'm really glad Happier won the best song competition, and now that there's the best album competition. I'm really quite surprised however to see Parachute go down so quickly, I never understood why it had such little appeal to ppl, could someone please e-mail me and tell me why Parachute is always considered the worst. Is it because it's the least listened too? I hear Keep it Together called their best, and I always have considered it their worst even though I absolutely love the album, but it's also the most listened to aside from Lost and Gone Forever. Could someone please enlighten me to the dislike for Parachute that would be great. soccwz25@yahoo.com

The best way I can explain why Parachute is considered the worst of their albums, is that it didn't really capture the essence of their actual sound the way later albums did. As I recall, both Parachute and Goldfly have an extra kit drummer playing on the recording. As a result, you don't really feel the driving percussion of the hand drums that is characteristic of their live shows.

In contrast, consider Lost and Gone Forever. On that album you really feel those drums and get as close to feeling their "genuine" sound as you're going to short of a live show. Keep it Together on the other hand represents the band evolving in a new direction, and is a distinct break from the parachute->goldfly->Lost and Gone Forever style progression.

If I had to guess, I'd say we'll see Parachute go first, followed by Goldfly and Keep it Together.

ridiculous! one cannot pick and favor just ONE guster album above any others...that would be like picking a favorite child!one cannot choose a favorite guster song either. it all depends on what mood you're in and what guster-era you feel like listening to on any given day. c'mon.

5. "Round 2 begins"
As I suspected it would be, Parachute was eliminated in Round 1 by a comfortable margin, with 230 votes cast.

Round 2 should be more interesting.

(P.S. Don't get me wrong. I love Parachute. It's just not my favorite album.)

At the end of Round 2, Goldfly was eliminated.

GOI, KIT, and L&GF remain...

I don't think that Guster on Ice should be considered an album.

I don't think that this is a very nescasary poll. Im pretty sure that the general consensus is that LAGF is their best album. I happen to think that goldfly is better and KIT is just as good if not better than LAGF but thats just me...

10. "Final round begins"
Guster On Ice was voted off at the end of round three.

There's a clear winner for the last round but vote anyway.

Lost And Gone Forever wins, unsurprisingly, with 165 votes cast in the last round.
