so last night after our show in tulsa, we had our first hey-the-format,
-we're-on-tour-together-so-let's-hang-out-in-the-back-of-the-bus-and-
listen-to-some-music-and-talk-shit session. first of all: good times! second and more relevant point: i had brought in my computer and was playing dj and it was late and i was getting lazy/tired/foggy and while i had some early success with the zombies, hall and oates, cody chestnutt and don lennon, i felt my once firm grasp on the back lounge mood dial .... slowly....fade..... and so i went to the ole party shuffle to see if anything inspiring came up and saw a wolf parade song and that made me think of this TOTAL JAM which is the first track on the sunset rubdown record. sometimes, opening tracks are so good it's hard to listen to the rest of the record.***
care of cell 44 by the zombies from the album odessey & oracle (sic [and sick, dude!]) via youaintnopicasso.
this song killed.
rich girl by hall and oates from one of their 49 million greatest hits compilations.
this one too.
shuffle o' the day: new music machine by cornelius from the album fantasma
gotta be honest, i haven't spent that much time with cornelius. at first, this song reminded me of sugarcube from yo la tengo but then it just reminded me of cornelius. the ending's kinda fun. and before you decide that cornelius is music that your c64 listens to, check his version of brazil from point. it's like the best delta airlines hold music ever.
hook 'em.
***new wilco, anyone?
